H.W. Kaufman Financial Group Promotes Daniel J. Kaufman to Senior Vice President of Corporate Growth

Promotion will transition Daniel from Chicago to Detroit/Farmington Hills headquarters

Farmington Hills, Mich.
(August 1, 2017) – H.W. Kaufman Financial Group, Michigan’s largest insurance company according to the 2017 Crain’s Detroit Business list, announced today that Daniel J. Kaufman will assume a broader leadership role as Senior Vice President, Corporate Growth at their company headquarters in Detroit/Farmington Hills, Michigan. Daniel will continue to serve as Managing Director and lead the Chicago, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh, and Minneapolis offices.

“When my father, Herbert W. Kaufman, founded the company in 1969, his long-term plan for the viability of the company was to preserve its legacy of excellence through family leadership,” said Alan Jay Kaufman, Chairman, President, and CEO, H.W. Kaufman Financial Group and its largest subsidiary, Burns & Wilcox. “As a third generation leader, Danny will play an invaluable role in enhancing the strategic direction, financial success, and continued growth of the Kaufman group of companies.”

As Senior Vice President of Corporate Growth, Daniel will lead the sales and marketing function and work closely with the information technology team on initiatives related to corporate growth and development. Additionally, he will collaborate with the human resources function to create industry-leading employee engagement programs, and work to enhance recruitment, retention, and compensation to ensure it remains best-in-class.

“In this new role, it is my goal to tackle the challenge of exploring innovative corporate revenue-driving initiatives, organizational design strategies, and deeper engagement with clients through a data-driven approach,” said Daniel J. Kaufman. “Learning directly from my father and early on with my grandfather, I intimately understand the unique complexities of the organization and will use that knowledge to positively contribute to the corporate growth of our global brand.”

Daniel returns to the company’s Detroit/Farmington Hills, Mich. Headquarters after spending ten years in Chicago, where he led the Burns & Wilcox Chicago office to substantial growth. He also plays a key role as a board member of H.W. Kaufman Financial Group and subsidiaries including Atain Insurance Companies and London-based Kaufman companies—Chesterfield Insurance Brokers, Lochain Patrick and Cranbrook Underwriting—allowing him to play a greater role across the group’s global operations as a third generation leader.

His achievements have been recognized by Insurance Business America and City of Hope, the latter of which presented Daniel with the William R. “Bill” Story Memorial Award for industry leadership.
