H.W. Kaufman Group and Burns & Wilcox Launch 50 Days of Giving Challenge to Raise Funds for the City of Hope

Company celebrates 50th anniversary with corporate-wide effort

Farmington Hills, Mich. (August 12, 2019) – H.W. Kaufman Group, a global network of companies dedicated to shaping the future of insurance, announced today the launch of its 50 Days of Giving Challenge, a global and corporate-wide effort in honor of the company’s 50th anniversary. The challenge includes the company’s more than 60 offices spanning the United States, Canada and United Kingdom to raise funds for the City of Hope, a leading comprehensive cancer center specializing in research and treatment.

“H.W. Kaufman Group and its family of companies is deeply rooted in philanthropy and is continuously looking for innovative opportunities to give back to the many communities we serve,” said Alan Jay Kaufman, President, Chairman and CEO, H.W. Kaufman Group and Burns & Wilcox. “What better way to celebrate our 50th anniversary than by bringing our global companies and associates together to support a great cause.”

The company-wide challenge will kick off August 12 and run through October 18. Throughout this time, associates will help raise funds and seek external support to engage clients and industry partners. The effort concludes with a fundraising event at the annual Kaufman Leadership Meeting held October 21-26. Mr. Kaufman will match all funds raised dollar-for-dollar.

Recently announced as this year’s Spirit of Life® award recipient by City of Hope, Kaufman was selected for his dedication in guiding the organization and for his commitment to evoking change through professional and humanitarian accomplishments as a leader in the insurance industry and in the community. City of Hope is a leading research and treatment center for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases, providing care, conducting innovative research and offering educational programs.

“City of Hope is honored that H.W. Kaufman Group has chosen to include us in its unique 50 Days of Giving Challenge,” said Ken Birkett, Senior Director, City of Hope. “We chose Mr. Kaufman for the Spirit of Life Award because of his endless dedication to offering help and support to others. For his company to award us in return with their philanthropic efforts speaks to their commitment to be a driving force for change.”

The 50 Days of Giving Challenge is an expansion of Champions & Charities, the company’s signature philanthropic initiative launched earlier this year. Started by Burns & Wilcox, North America’s leading wholesale insurance broker and underwriting manager and largest subsidiary of H.W. Kaufman Group, Champions & Charities was created to support organizations selected by its professional athlete brand ambassadors. To-date the program has partnered with Team Fox for Parkinson’s Research, Global Lyme Alliance and Forgotten Harvest.

H.W. Kaufman Group also offers two paid days off per year to its associates, encouraging more active participation and volunteering in their communities.
